BREAKING: House of Reps Holds Valedictory Session

During the valedictory session of the 9th House of Representatives on Wednesday, 7th of June 20213, the Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila who just got appointed last Friday by the Tinubu gave a farewell speech.

The former speakers, Ghali Na’Abbas and Patricia Etteh were also on seat to grace the Occassion. The Speaker gave a farewell speech commending the lawmakers for their efforts in the last four years, which include the passage of important legislation like PIA, Electoral Act, and others.

“As you are all aware, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has nominated me to continue serving the people of Nigeria as Chief of Staff in the Presidency,” he told the legislators.

He expressed his displeasure at the inability of the 9th House to pass several women-related bills that the House rejected in 2022. He then urged the next House to take on the challenge of passing gender-related bills.

“I will miss all of you and I will miss this house. I want you to rest assured that wherever the road takes me, I will carry you all in my heart, fondly because you have enriched my life in ways words alone cannot fully express,” he concluded.

It was made known that the next Assembly will be inaugurated Tuesday 13th of June.
