President Tinubu meets students representatives at Aso rock

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday played host to prominent students representatives at the state house.

The visit was the first of its kind between the President and the representatives of the students community.

In a tweet on his official handle, Tinubu reiterated the commitment of his administration to providing quality education and youth empowerment.

“This afternoon, I enjoyed an invigorating meeting with the leadership of a few of the most prominent national student bodies in the country. Representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the National Association of University Students (NAUS), the National Association of Colleges of Education Students (NACES) and the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) were in attendance.

“Their support of the Access to Higher Education Act as well as this government’s pro-active approach to the fuel subsidy issue was most welcome.

“On my part, I reiterated the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and social justice through meaningful inclusion in governance, affordable access to quality education, and the creation of gainful opportunities across all sectors of the economy.”

Among many other things the students loan bill, which was sponsored by the outgoing Speaker of the house of representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, is aimed at accelerating easy access to higher education for Nigerians through an interest-free loan from the Nigerian Education Bank which is established in the Act to provide education for Nigerians and other related purposes
