The Super Eagles of Nigeria have secured qualification for the 2023 African Cup of Nations scheduled to take place in Cote’d’voire.
The Nigerian team defeated Seirra Leone 3-2 on the matchday 5 of the qualifiers on Sunday to effectively seal a place in the African showpiece.
Although Victor Osimhen’s brace in the first half was earlier put to test when the Leone Star got back to the game with goals from Mustapha and Augustus Kargbo respectively to drew the game level.
However, all thanks to substitute Kelechi Iheanacho who scored at the stroke of the regulation time to earn the Eagles a win and also send them back to the top of Group A .
The 3-2 win means both Nigeria(12 points) and Guinea Bissau(10 points) have picked the two tickets from Group A of the qualifying series.
No much will be at stake when Nigeria plays against the rock bottom Sao Tome and Principe in the last game of the qualifiers
