All you need to know about Threads, a new app created by Mark Zuckerberg to rival Twitter

Threads is a new app from the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp owned by Mark Zuckerberg.

The app, which was officially launched on Wednesday will offer users the opportunity to post photos, videos and also have real-time update and public conversations.

The launching for the app had earlier been announced three months ago.

Threads, which is coming to rival Twitter as a micro blogging medium has already received 30 million sign-ups as of Thursday morning.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg “The vision for Threads is to create an option and friendly public space for conversation. We hope to take what Instagram does best and create a new experience around text, ideas, and discussing what’s on your mind.”

Users can log in by using their instagram account and posts can be up to 500 characters long and include links, photos, and videos up to 5 minutes in length.

The creator noted that Everyone who is under 16 (or under 18 in certain countries) will be defaulted into a private profile when they join Threads.

According to the announcement from Instagram, the Threads was rolled out in 100 countries for iOS and Android, and people in those countries can download the app from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
