New Service Scheme Allows HND Holders as Graduate Assistants

In the newly approved scheme of service for Nigerian Polytechnics, holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with good grades can now be appointed as Academic Staff (Graduate Assistants) alongside their degree counterparts.
This change, announced during the formal presentation of the new Schemes of Service to Polytechnic stakeholders by the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof. Idris Mohammed Bugaje, marks the abolition of the Instructor Cadre that previously disadvantaged HND holders.
The updated Schemes of Service, effective from June 7, 2024, aim to unify recruitment and promotion processes across all Nigerian Polytechnics, including federal, state, and private institutions.
