The Chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State chapter, Mallam Ayodeji Ismail has been appointed as Media Officer of Kwara United FC, following the resignation of its former officer, Jimoh Bashir, who was recently appointed as Co-ordinator, ABS Football Club.
The move by the state funded club, according to pundits, is to further shore up its media visibility ahead of the new season.
Ayodeji is coming into the job with several years of media experience.
Soft spoken, suave and urbane, the SWAN Chairman is a trained broadcaster, seasoned blogger with solid experience in social media management.
“We expect Ayodeji Ismail to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the image of our darling club”, Wale Obalola the Secretary of Kwara United FC said while handing the letter of appointment to the journalist in Ilorin at a short media ceremony.
Expressing gratitude for the privilege, Mallam Ayodeji Ismail admitted that the job is not only for him.
“SWAN and the entire media community in Kwara have been given an assignment and we will approach the task with all seriousness and I promise not to disappoint.
“Football and media feed off each other and can’t be separated.
“I am especially grateful to the club management led by Kumbi Titiloye and I will not let him and Kwara United down,” he said.
Meanwhile, National and State SWAN have pledged their support to Ayodeji Ismail, following his appointment as Media Officer of Kwara United FC.
In a statement signed by Mallam Olayinka, Vice President SWAN North Central, he called on members of SWAN to rally round Ayodeji Ismail to demonstrate unity and support.
Owolewa revealed that the appointment has cemented a strong relationship between Kwara United FC and Kwara SWAN.
He said, “Dear esteemed members of SWAN, Kwara Chapter, let’s rally round our own, Ayodeji Ismail, as he takes on the role of Media Officer for Kwara United FC.
“We’ve long advocated for closer ties with the clubs, now it’s our chance to demonstrate unity and support. Let’s ensure Ismail’s success, so Kwara United’s management sees the value in collaborating with us.
“Let’s give him our full backing and make this partnership a model for others to follow. Congratulations, once again Chairman. We’re behind you, he added.
Equally the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State chapter, has congratulated Mallam Ayodeji Ismail on his appointment as Media Officer of Kwara United FC.
In a statement signed by the Vice Chairman, Mallam Toyin Saheed, they hailed the management of Kwara United FC for choosing Ayodeji, who he described as very suitable for the position considering his wealth of experience as a journalist with a passionate bias for sports.
“On behalf of the executives and entire members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Kwara chapter, I heartily congratulate our Chairman, Mallam Ayodeji on his appointment as Media Officer of Kwara United FC,” Saheed began in the statement.
