Kwara United Football Club has expressed their condolences to Heartland Football Club of Owerri following a road accident involving their vehicle on the way to the Tico/Select preseason tournament last Friday which led to the death of their gaffer, Christian Obi.
In a statement issued by the Chairman of Kwara United, Kumbi Titiloye, and conveyed by the General Manager, Bashir Badawiy, they conveyed their shock at the unfortunate accident which claimed the life of the club’s head coach, Christian Obi in Umunna near Okigwe in Imo state.
“Our sympathies are with the management, players and officials of Heartland Football Club over the death of coach Christian Obi and those who sustained injuries in the road accident while en route to participate in a preseason tournament. We extend our prayers for their speedy recovery and grant the departed soul peaceful rest ,” said Badawiy.
He also emphasized the importance of motorists and all road users exercising patience while behind the wheel, as it is always preferable to arrive late than to not arrive at all.
