The free medical outreach organized by Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, the Kwara Central Senator during the 9th National Assembly, as part of the 2024 Capital Projects of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), attracted a significant turnout at the Olufadi Health Centre. Approximately four hundred individuals from various demographics gathered to receive complimentary medical consultations, medications, and additional health support services.
This vital initiative which came up on Thursday, 17th October, 2024, predominantly focused on raising awareness, screening, and managing various types of cancer, including breast, cervical, and prostate cancers. The outreach was conducted by a streamlined protocol designed to facilitate access for beneficiaries without impediments.
This program exemplifies the former legislator’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services to his constituents, irrespective of financial constraints, during and after his tenure in the National Assembly.
Sen. Oloriegbe, represented by his daughter, Bar. Hafsat Oloriegbe, emphasized the significance of the medical outreach, highlighting the urgent need for interventions that address critical health issues like cancer. She articulated that the motivation behind facilitating this program stems from the alarming rise in cancer cases within the community, underscoring the importance of early detection and preventive measures. Bar. Hafsat Oloriegbe expressed that empowering individuals through health education and accessible screenings is vital in combating these diseases, reinforcing Dr. Oloriegbe’s commitment to improving health outcomes for all citizens, regardless of their circumstances.
The Chairman of Ilorin South Local Government Area, Hon. Abdulmajeed Bolakale Podo, represented by his deputy, Mrs. Joel Mary Abiodun, characterized the initiative as a commendable effort to address the healthcare needs of the community. He praised the former legislator for his ongoing dedication to reforming the health sector and for making quality healthcare more accessible, even post-tenure.
Beneficiaries from various communities in Ilorin publicly expressed their gratitude to Oloriegbe for his unwavering commitment to addressing their needs despite his absence from public office, offering prayers for his continued success and well-being.
