Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency will tomorrow commence another round of Polio Immunization Campaign in all the nooks and crannies across the 16 Local Government Area of the State
This is due to the isolation of circulating variant polio virus from both human and environmental sources in many states of the Federation
This is contained in a statement by the Press Secretary of the Agency, Alade Opeyemi Ilorin
The Statement announced that the immunization exercise is expected to start tomorrow Saturday 2nd of November is expected to end on Tuesday next week 5th November to further boost the immunity of susceptible children
It would be recalled that Executive Secretary Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Doctor Nusirat Elelu had earlier announced this recently during an engagement meeting with Chairmen Ward Development Committee in Ilorin.
Doctor Elelu noted that this round of polio outbreak response is aimed at protecting vulnerable Children below 5 years of age from Poliomyelitis.
She pointed out that Health workers will visit Houses, Markets, Churches, Mosques, Schools and places of social gathering to administer 2 drops of the Oral Polio Vaccine in the mouth of eligible children irrespective of their previous immunization status.
Doctor Elelu therefore enjoined Mothers, Caregivers, Religious leaders and Traditional leaders to kindly co-operate with Health workers during this period to prevent incurable Paralysis as the vaccine is free, safe and has no overdose.
