…as IGP tasks new recruits on professionalism
The Nigeria Police Force under the Police Training School, Ilorin, Kwara State has successfully trained and graduated 587 constables.
The graduating constables, who are from Kwara and Kogi States, were part of the 2022 batch.
At the passing-out parade ceremony, held at the training school, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, charged the newly graduated recruits to uphold the highest standards of discipline, integrity and professionalism in discharging their duties.
Speaking through the state Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, the IGP, reminded the recruits that their conduct, both on and off duty, will define how the public perceives the police force.
Egbetokun, who warned that there will be no tolerance for indiscipline, corruption or any form of misconduct urged the new recruits to remain steadfast, uphold the rule of law and commit to the values of courage, fairness and professionalism.”
“Today’s event marks the culmination of rigorous, physical, intellectual and emotional preparation aimed at transforming these young Nigerians from civilians into professional police officers equipped to handle the demands of modern policing.
“This ceremony is yet another milestone in the ongoing commitment of the Federal Government to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
“The recruitment and training of 10,000 police recruits reflect our collective resolve to prioritize the security of lives and as you graduate today, you are joining a reformed police force that is undergoing a transformation driven by professionalism, ethics and
technological advancement.
“Under my leadership, the Nigeria police force is focused on adopting innovative strategies to combat crime, ensure the safety of citizens, and strengthen public trust.
“Let me emphasize that the uniform you wear is not merely a symbol of authority; it is a representation of service, sacrifice, and responsibility.
“Through the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Police Trust Fund, and other strategic partnerships, resources are being provided to enhance operational efficiency and personnel welfare.
“This is a testament to the belief that a well-motivated and well-equipped police force is essential for national security,” he further stated” the IGP stated.
