Police arraigns Proprietor over alleged fraud of NGO millions in Kwara

The Kwara State Police command has arraigned a proprietor, one Moriike Adegoke who allegedly misappropriated funds sent to the State for the less privileges by a Non Governmental Organization; Naxim Nyansa IT Solution.

Adegoke was dragged alongside four other before Magistrate Jumoke Bamigboye for the alleged offences of Criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, theft and criminal misappropriation, advanced free fraud among others.

According to on the First Information Report (FIR), the defendant (Adegoke) allegedly defrauded the NGO over N5 million and £6,747.55 euros and fifty-five cent.

According to the FIR, the defendant with her accomplice; Adebayo Femi Caleb, Oluwasegun Ezekiel, fraudulently transferred the sum of N5 million from the NGO’s account between April 8th 2022 to February 8th, 2024 to personal use.

The defendant, who leaves behind Dangote, Ilorin, Kwara State was also accused to have misappropriated some ICT gadgets, furnitures and properties of the NGO which are meant to be given to various schools within the state.

The FIR revealed that the defendant diverted some of the furniture to her school, Pearl International College at Kontogora road, off Taiwo road, Ilorin.

In August, 2021, the FIR stated that the defendant with the help of one Esther Oyewole proposed a fictitious project of vocational and entrepreneur skill in hardware repairs and maintenance for physically challenged students.

The petitioner, (NGO) reportedly sent the sum £6,747.55 euros and fifty-five cent but was allegedly diverted into private use.

During the proceedings, the prosecutor, Abdullah Sanni, urged the court to order the remand of the defendants in corr criminal facility pending the time he will have access to the case file.

The magistrate, in his ruling, turned down the request on the basis that the defendants were all on bail before now.

The court however adjourned the proceedings till 16th July for hearing.
