No end in sight as Iran strikes Israel after U.S. Bombs Nuclear sites, raising fears of Wider War

Tensions in the Middle East soared to dangerous new heights on Saturday after Iran launched a wave of missile attacks on Israel, just hours after the United States bombed its key nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

Loud explosions were reported in major Israeli cities including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa, as air raid sirens blared across urban centers and residents scrambled for shelter. At least 20 people have been confirmed injured, according to Israeli emergency services, while officials say dozens of missiles struck across the country.

Fragments from the Iranian missiles were said to have landed near the strategic northern port of Haifa. The southern city of Beersheba was also among those hit in what appears to be one of Iran’s most aggressive responses in years.

Since the start of hostilities on June 13, Israeli officials have confirmed 25 deaths and over 50 missile impacts nationwide. The latest escalation follows a direct strike by the U.S. military on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure — a move President Donald Trump described as having “completely obliterated” Iran’s atomic ambitions.

Iran, which had earlier warned of “everlasting consequences” if attacked, wasted no time in retaliating. However, international nuclear watchdogs, including the IAEA and Iran’s own safety agency, have reported no immediate increase in radiation levels following the U.S. bombings.

The unfolding crisis now places the world at a dangerous crossroads, involving three nuclear-capable nations — the U.S., Iran, and Israel — in a fast-developing confrontation that could spiral into full-scale regional war.

Global powers are urging restraint, but uncertainty looms large. Analysts say the coming days will determine whether diplomacy can prevail or if the region is heading toward a deeper, more destructive conflict.
