Palpable tension has gripped residents of Temidire Zone 4, Egbejila, in Ilorin, following the gruesome killing of a 39-year-old pregnant woman, Mrs. Esther Enemo, in what police described as a suspected ritual attack, THE PRIME NEWS reports.
The victim, said to have been alone in her home on Wednesday night, was discovered dead the following morning in shocking circumstances that have unsettled the community.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Saturday, August 23, 2025, the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed that detectives recovered the dismembered body of the deceased in a bush behind her residence. Other body parts were also found hidden in a sack beneath a community bridge.

According to the statement, “At about 0900hrs, a resident of the area reported a suspected foul play within the residence of one Mr. Ekene Enemo. A swift response led detectives to discover the body of Mrs. Esther Enemo in the bush behind her residence, while other parts were later recovered in a sack under a nearby bridge.”
THE PRIME NEWS gathered that the Command confirmed the arrest of a prime suspect, Mr. Sylvester Enemo (29), the younger brother of the deceased woman’s husband, who was allegedly sighted leaving the compound shortly before the crime came to light. The husband, Mr. Ekene Enemo, has also been invited for questioning.
The body of the victim has since been evacuated to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) for autopsy, while police vowed a full investigation.
Kwara Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, condemned the incident, assuring that no stone would be left unturned to ensure justice.
He also urged residents to remain calm and avoid unverified speculations that could heighten fear in the community.
