Sulu Gambari: 30 years of Purposeful Leadership

As the first literate monarch of Ilorin Emirate His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, CFR celebrates his thirty (30) years of purposeful leadership on the throne on Tuesday 11/11/2025, a trusted aide and Secretary to Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Sunmail Adetunji Lawal has described the milestone as purposeful with giant strides that have imparted stable political life and socioeconomic development of Ilorin ancient City and environs.

Alhaji Lawal Adetunji, while speaking in his office noted that the Royal Father who is the Chairman, Kwara State Council of Obas and Chiefs has triumphed tremendously in the last thirty (30) years due to his determination to pursue justice and fair play in accordance with his oath of office, as a jurist of note.

“Sustenance of peace has brought unity plus socioeconomic development in the entire Emirate and State while reaching out to the people and he got reciprocal benevolence”

The Palace Secretary stated further, “the traditional ruler is popular, well acceptable and respected by all strata of the society especially by the poor masses who always appreciate him with the slogan of Shehu! Shehu!! Shehu!!! Wallahu Yasimuka Minanasi in public places, on radio, while passing by, at public functions, everywhere etc. Once his convoy is noticed, the people show love”.

The administrator appreciated the monarch for the systematic administrative structure in the Emirate and recognition of the youths that has brought about noticeable developments in entire emirate in particular and State of Harmony in general.

“Every part of Ilorin ancient city is well developed with effective vigilante groups complementing the efforts of the law enforcement agencies in curbing the activities of men of the underworld”. He stated further, “the traditional ruler makes frantic efforts to resolve any impasse between Fulani Bororo cattle rearers and local farmers in his domain through peaceful agreements including embargo on carrying dangerous weapons, day guns, bows and arrows, spears, cutlasses to harass and intimidate their host – all these efforts bring the common peace in our communities and the Fulani representatives have unhindered access to the Palace for consultations and talks at different levels”.

Alhaji Adetunji Lawal asseverated that it can only be Almighty Allah as the Emirate will continue to enjoy peaceful coexistence, socioeconomic development, stable political life and unity, “we can achieve the next thirty (30) years together all we need is to continue to advance the cause of social justice, equity in an egalitarian society, just has he appreciated the Royal Father and prayed fervently for continued good health, long life, more happy days, sound mind coated with God’s love as the traditional ruler marches on”, “May the reign of His Royal Highness, Maimartaba, Alhaji (Dr.) Justice Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, CFR, Emir of Ilorin, a constant Northern Star and pillar of peace continue to be eventful and peaceful”, Insha Allah, Amin, Ilorin Emirate Secretary prayed.
