FG offers retired teachers technical school jobs

The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Education, has commenced plans to engage retired teachers as tutors in the new Technical and Vocational Education Training programme.

This was revealed in a memo from the Ministry of Education, signed by the Technology and Science Education department and sighted by our correspondent on Tuesday in Abuja.

The government had recently launched a free TVET programme, offering participants a monthly stipend of N22,500 to support their transportation and training needs.

The initiative aims to equip Nigerians, particularly youths, with practical skills to boost employability, encourage self-reliance, and foster economic growth.

The programme is a collaborative effort between the Federal Government and the National Board for Technical Education, with accredited training centres established across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The memo reads in part: “Sequel to the launch of the New TVET Initiative by the Honourable Minister of Education, the Federal Ministry of Education is willing to engage the services of retired technical teachers to support the full implementation of the programme by teaching some of the critical trade subjects as STT or serving as IQAM in our TVET Institutions.
