Europe should be abolished — Elon Musk

United States tech billionaire Elon Musk has called for the abolition of Europe.

He made this call in a statement on X on Saturday.

According to him, power allocated to Europe as a union should be returned to individual member countries.

“The EU should be abolished and sovereignty returned to individual countries so that governments can better represent their people,” Musk posted on his social media platform.

The remarks come amid growing debates across Europe over national sovereignty, immigration, digital regulation, and economic policy — issues that have often put EU institutions at odds with some member states.

Musk, who has repeatedly criticised the EU over its regulatory approach to technology and digital platforms, did not provide further details or context for his statement.

His Saturday comments, however, quickly sparked reactions online.

As of Saturday evening, neither the European Commission nor EU leaders had responded to Musk’s remarks.
