Ramadan/Lent 2026: Wale Sulaiman preaches unity, shared prosperity

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun (FUHSI), and APC chieftain, Prof. Wale Sulaiman, CON, has felicitated with Muslims and Christians across Nigeria on the commencement of the holy months of Ramadan and Lent on February 18th, 2026.

This was contained in a statement signed by him and made available to Newsmen on Wednesday.

Prof. Sulaiman described the coincidence of the two sacred fasting seasons in the same month as a rare blessing from God and a reflection of His mercy and benevolence toward mankind. He noted that the unique overlap of Ramadan and Lent presents a powerful opportunity for Nigerians of different faiths to deepen their bonds of unity, love, and mutual respect.

According to him, “Our Creator has once again given us an uncommon opportunity to repent, seek forgiveness, and ask for divine blessings. We must embrace one another as brothers and sisters, without division fueled by separatist ideologies. Humanity is one, and religion should be the channel through which we communicate with God, not a tool for separation.”

Prof. Sulaiman urged both Muslim and Christian faithful to navigate the seasons of fasting with a spirit of oneness, peace, and shared prosperity, stressing that Nigeria’s greatest strength lies in its unity as a people with a common history and destiny.

He also congratulated Muslim scholars (Ulamas) across the country and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for their steadfast commitment to unity and peace, despite the security and socio-economic challenges confronting the nation.

He called on Nigerians to use the holy period to pray for divine intervention in the country’s development journey, adding that Nigeria belongs to all citizens and that its success as a thriving nation is a collective victory.

Prof. Sulaiman further encouraged Muslims and Christians to demonstrate love through acts of kindness, charity, and compassion, by sharing the bounties bestowed on them by Allah (SWT) – God Almighty, without discrimination.

“May this holy season renew our hope, strengthen our faith and unite us as one people,” he concluded.
