Ilorin Emirate Council Secretary, Alhaji Ismail Adetunji Lawal has urged Nigerian Muslims in general and Ilorin Emirate Muslims in particular to use the Ramadan period to showcase Islam’s virtues through good conduct, discipline fairness and peaceful co-existence.
In his goodwill message, Alhaji Adetunji Lawal emphasized kindness, love for humanity and avoidance of evil as key aspects of the holy month. He stated that Ramadan promotes Unity as well as equality with the rich and poor sharing experience of hunger, and called for refraining from exploitation and “Let us use this opportunity to put the best teachings of Islam into practice, such as kindness, fairness, being our brother’s keeper and love for humanity”.

The Palace Secretary stated further, “This is an occasion for deep self-reflection, greater fear of Allah, and avoidance of all evils that harm or can harm humanity”, he admonished.
The Secretary who doubles as the Private Secretary to HRH Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, CFR said Ramadan was characterized by abstention food and drinks from dawn to dusk, which brings both the rich and the poor to share the experience of hunger, thereby strengthening bonds between the haves and have-nots.

He explained, “As we begin 30 days fasting season, let us remember that Ramadan is not only about abstaining from eating and drinking, but also a reminder to refrain from all kinds of evil and transgressions that harm humanity”.
“As we observe this important occasion in the Spirits and life of Muslims, let us share food and drinks with the less privileged, by sharing with others, Allah will multiply our rewards for good deeds”.
“I appeal to Allah to Muslim worshippers and the entire residents of Ilorin Emirate to pray for our esteemed Royal Father, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, CFR, Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Traditional Council, all traditional chieftaincy title holders, traditional and religious leaders to continue to flourish in Allah’s abundant blessings and our political leaders to ensure good democratic governance”, the Secretary Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Sunmail Adetunji Lawal concluded.
