The former Minister of Interior, Rau Aregbesola has been asked by Igbimo Agba Osun (Elders Caucus) to apologise to the Leadership of the party for his actions.
Sola Akinwumi, the APC, Igbimo-Agba Osun Chairman, made this known in a press release signed by him, saying the decision to ask the ex-governor to apologise was arrived at, after a wide consultation with the members of the caucus.
Recall that Aregbesola, a former Governor of Osun State fell out with his successsor, Gboyega Oyetola and reportedly worked against the latter’s second term bid to detriment of APC.
Many political pundits believe that his
‘anti-party’ activities aided the emergence of the current Governor Ademola Adeleke in the off-cycle gubernatorial elections which held last year.
The caucus in the statement said ” the All Progressives Congress (APC) Osun State Chapter remains intact while the leadership is exploring all avenues towards ensuring a united and focused Party.
“It has come to the knowledge of this body about comments made by the Fmr Gov/Minister of Interior H/E. Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola during his recent event in Osun State and wish to inform the public that our Party’s door is open to any member who is ready to apologize genuinely for his/her misdeeds.
“Finally, this body deeply appreciates all committed and loyal members for their unwavering and firm support for the Party despite all odds.
Aregbesola was recently quoted asking for forgiveness from whoever, according to felt offended by his action.
