Operatives from the People’s Republic of China have reportedly stormed Oreke-Oke in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State following the abduction of one of their nationals at a mining site.
THE PRIME NEWS gathered that the kidnappers, during the deadly assault, killed two police officers before whisking away two workers, including a Chinese expatriate.
The Kwara State Police Command later identified the slain officers as ASP Haruna Watsai and Inspector Tukur Ogah. Both men were attached to the 45 Police Mobile Force Unit in Abuja.

The daring attack sent shockwaves through the quiet community, fueling renewed concerns about the worsening state of insecurity in parts of the state.

Witnesses said the attackers, heavily armed and in large numbers, struck around 6:30 pm, unleashing terror on the site.
Security analyst, Zagazola, revealed that the abductors are demanding a ransom of N1 billion to release the Chinese national and the Nigerian worker.
A senior police officer, who was part of the initial response effort but asked not to be named, told Daily Trust that a delegation of Chinese operatives arrived in Kwara shortly after the incident.
“The operatives first landed in Abuja, where they were received and escorted by a Divisional Crime Officer to the Kwara State Police Command,” the officer said.
“Upon arrival, they insisted on visiting the crime scene despite the late hour. Inside the Oreke forest, they examined the area, collected samples and maintained strict observation.
“By the time we returned to Ilorin that night, it was already past midnight. The operatives have since left for China but promised to return soon. We are still expecting them back, while our own search and rescue operations are ongoing.”
Multiple calls and text messages sent to the police command’s spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi SP, seeking official response were not returned as at the time of filing this report.
But in an earlier statement, Adetoun had confirmed the identities of the abducted victims as Mr. Sam Xie Wie, a Chinese investor and Mr. David Adenaiye, a Nigerian worker from Kogi State.
She added that the whereabouts of the victims remain unknown as security agencies continue their efforts to secure their release.
Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, condemned the attack in strong terms, describing it as cowardly and callous.
He assured the public that tactical and intelligence-led operations were underway to rescue the abductees and bring their captors to justice.
