The Niger State Police Command has arrested four suspects for theft and receiving stolen property after fish worth about N750,000 were stolen from a farm in Lapai-Gwari, Chanchaga Local Government Area.
This was disclosed in a statement made available on Tuesday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun.
Abiodun explained that on September 8, 2025, two suspects, Hussaini Garba and Umar Danfulani, both of Lapai-Gwari, allegedly conspired and trespassed into a fish farm where they carted away fish valued at N750,000 on several occasions.

He said Garba was later arrested and, during interrogation, confessed to the crime, naming three receivers of the stolen fish, Ahmed Yusuf of Lapai-Gwari, Ibrahim Musa of Tungan-Goro, and Abdulazeez Bawa of City-Gate.
“All the suspects were subsequently arrested and charged to court for prosecution,” the statement read.
It can be recalled that THE PRIME NEWS reported on September 16 that armed robbers stormed a hotel in Madalla, Suleja, around 2 am, injuring three people and fleeing with valuables, including a stolen Toyota Corolla.
THE PRIME NEWS reports that on September 9, four robbers in a Toyota Camry also trailed and dispossessed a bank customer of cash in Minna. Police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed both incidents, adding that investigations and manhunts had been launched to apprehend the suspects.
The latest arrests underscore the police command’s ongoing efforts to crack down on crime across Niger State, from farm theft to armed robbery, with assurances that suspects will be prosecuted and communities better protected.
