At the 7th Oath Taking and Induction Ceremony of newly qualified Opticians held on Friday 28th November, 2025 at the Kwara State College of Health Technology Offa, the Provost of the College, Elder Benjamin Ayankunle Ayanshola admonished the new inductees to be worthy ambassadors of the College at all times.

Addressing newly qualified opticians he assured them that their accomplishments reflects unwavering commitment and excellence while on the side of the College “ We remain committed to excellence and quality service delivery, globally competitive education with sound knowledge impactors”.
“We have successfully secured reaccreditation of our ND programme and HND programme in Dispensing Opticianry the first in Nigeria”, the Provost assured.


The College administrator stated further, “Our modern facilities have strengthened our capacity to train competent professionals with our state of the art clinic and laboratory equipment’s, we armed with instruments and diagnostic equipment’s that enables our students to address challenges relating to visual impairment and blindness” within our communities while assuring that, “Our students can compete favourably with their contemporaries anywhere in the world”.

Elder Benjamin Ayanshola appealed passionately to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, (CON), to consider their students for employment within the State’s Civil Service as a matter of priority as they are qualified opticians.
A lecture was delivered by an erudite scholar in person of Dr. Oluwole Gabriel Afolayan of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Abuja, topic, Vision for Development: The Role of Opticianry in Nation Building. He stressed that opticians strengthen primary healthcare through accessibility and affordability of vision, emphasizing that the new inductees are custodians of vision, as this demands professionalism, integrity and empathy.

Advising that, “You must be professional and patriotic at all times. The science of eye care is evolving rapidly, with new technologies and innovations emerging, you must keep updating your knowledge and skills”. He admonished fervently, “Be ambassadors of vision, wellness and nation builder – your hands, your skills, and your compassion are all instruments for nation development”.

Optician Dr. Ibrahim Liman Moshood, the Head of Department, Department of Dispensing Opticianry of the College who doubles as the Chairman of HOD’s in the College asserted that his department has proven track records of excellence with abiding faith according to its regulatory body and the College management standards, “Our journey into excellence is continuous, we must strive to improve daily – vision behind every success”.
He appreciated the College management, Registrar of the Board, Dr. Obinna Edwin Awiaka, parents/guardian of the inductees and the entire College Community for their support, collaboration & innovation at all times.
At the occasion, fourteen (14) new inductees got cash gifts/prizes worth Three Hundred And Ninety Thousand Naira (N390,000.00) Only facilitated by the following – Opeyemi Mega Eye Centre, Opticians Eyewear and eye, Eye clinic and vision planet as sponsors. The best graduating student is Fasakin Oluwabunmi Anuoluwapo.
