The political landscape in Kwara State is gradually taking a new shape as stakeholders begin to position themselves ahead of the next phase of leadership in the state.
Across the sixteen Local Government Areas of Kwara South, members of the Kwara South Progressives have declared their support for Wale Sulaiman, urging him to contest the governorship of the state.
Leaders of the group said the decision followed extensive consultations and careful assessment of the kind of leadership required to move the state forward.

Speaking on behalf of the movement, the Chairman of the group, Prince Tajudeen Amzat, explained that the endorsement was the result of broad discussions and deep reflection among members across the region.
According to him, the group believes the state needs a leader whose competence, integrity and international exposure can translate into meaningful development.
Amzat noted that Prof. Sulaiman has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to human capital development, healthcare advancement, youth empowerment and community service, despite not holding any political office.
“These qualities clearly set him apart and reflect the kind of leadership that focuses on service rather than mere political ambition,” he said.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the group, Ajiboye Sodiq, stated that the endorsement by Kwara South Progressives goes beyond a public declaration.
He revealed that the group’s political and grassroots structures across the sixteen Local Government Areas of Kwara South are fully aligned with the aspiration of Prof. Sulaiman.
He added that the organisation is ready to mobilise support not only within Kwara South but across the entire state to ensure that the vision represented by the professor becomes a reality.
In the same vein, the group’s Public Relations Officer, Aremu Oluwaseun, said many residents of the state are increasingly recognising the need for leadership driven by competence and capacity.
According to him, the growing support for Prof. Sulaiman reflects a wider desire among Kwarans for a leadership style that prioritises development, innovation and inclusive progress.
