The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, has flagged off the distribution of 30 motorcycles to forest guards and other security personnel as part of renewed efforts to strengthen security across the council area.
This was contained in a statement made available to Newsmen through his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Abdulquadri Jimba.
The distribution ceremony, held on Thursday in Share, also witnessed the presentation of two brand new 18-seater buses to improve staff welfare and ease transportation challenges for local government workers.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Yusuf said the initiative was timely and strategic, noting that the motorcycles would enhance the mobility of security operatives, particularly in hard-to-reach areas.
He explained that forest guards, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the police and local vigilante groups would benefit from the intervention, enabling them to respond more swiftly to security threats and better safeguard communities.
The chairman acknowledged the efforts of both the federal and Kwara State government in tackling insecurity, adding that the local government remains committed to complementing those efforts.
“With the support of His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, we have continued to provide essential logistics, including motorcycles, operational vehicles and other gadgets for security agencies. We will not relent in ensuring the safety of our people,” he said.
In his remarks, the Commander of Forest Guards, Wahab Falola, expressed appreciation to the chairman for the intervention, assuring that the motorcycles would be effectively deployed to boost security operations.
On staff welfare, Yusuf said the provision of the buses reflects his administration’s commitment to improving the working conditions of employees, in collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and health workers.
Also speaking, the Deputy Personnel Manager, Salman Ayinde Ganiyu, commended the chairman’s leadership, noting that the local government has recorded steady progress across key sectors.
“Since he assumed office, there have been visible improvements in health, agriculture, works and education. The local government is now something we can all be proud of,” he said, while assuring continued support from staff to sustain the momentum.
The event was attended by key officials, including the Local Government Treasurer, Usman Waheed; Head of Works, Awodi Ayodele; Head of Health Department, AbdulRazak Salami; Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Ademola Zubair and NULGE Chairman, Olarinoye Isiaq Abioye, alongside security personnel, staff and other stakeholders.
