2027: KIWA backs Tinubu for second term, endorses Wale Sulaiman for Kwara governorship

The Kwara Integrity Women Association (KIWA) has declared its political position ahead of the 2027 general elections, throwing its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term while endorsing Prof. Wale Sulaiman as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kwara State.

The endorsement was announced in a statement signed by the association’s State Coordinator, Hon. Yusuf Ameenat Folake on Thursday.

According to the group, its decision followed a thorough assessment of the national political landscape, the performance of public officeholders and the need to identify candidates capable of advancing the interests of Kwara State in the next political cycle.

KIWA said its support for President Tinubu is based on what it described as his administration’s commitment to national development and inclusiveness, adding that he deserves another term to consolidate ongoing initiatives.

On the governorship race, the association described Prof. Wale Sulaiman as a candidate with the experience, integrity, and competence required to provide effective leadership in the state.

It expressed confidence that he would promote transparent governance and implement policies focused on improving the welfare of women and other vulnerable groups.

The group noted that while it has made its preference known, its endorsement does not infringe on the rights of other aspirants to contest.

It stressed that its position reflects what it considers to be in the best interest of Kwara State at this time, reaffirming its commitment to supporting credible leadership and sustainable development.

KIWA also called on women, stakeholders, and residents across the state to support its chosen candidates in the interest of unity and progress, while urging political actors to conduct their activities peacefully.

The association reiterated its readiness to remain actively engaged in civic processes and monitor political developments as the 2027 elections approach.
