The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kwara State, Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu, has donated millions of naira towards the replacement and repair of a faulty transformer serving the Burhanudeen, Isale-Koko and Ojagboro communities in Ilorin, bringing renewed hope to residents after months of prolonged blackout.

Kawu announced the intervention during a condolence visit to the family of the late Waka music icon, Alhaja Rukayat Batimoluwasi, at the Alikali Agba Compound in Isale-Koko, Ojagboro, Ilorin.

The transformer had been out of service for about three months, leaving residents and businesses in darkness and causing severe economic hardship.

Small-scale enterprises, including welders, cold-room operators, provision store owners and other artisans, were among those most affected by the prolonged power outage.

Residents and community leaders expressed appreciation for the timely intervention, noting that previous appeals to relevant authorities had failed to produce results.

They described Kawu’s donation as a major relief that would restore electricity and revive commercial activities within the affected communities.

Engr. Kawu has built a reputation for supporting grassroots development and humanitarian causes across Kwara State.

He is widely recognised for providing community-based interventions, particularly in addressing infrastructure challenges and improving access to essential services.

Speaking, the President of the Ojagboro Development Association (ODA), Alhaji Toyin Olokoba, thanked Engr. Kawu for responding swiftly to the community’s electricity challenge, which had persisted for months.

He prayed for the success of the PDP candidate’s political ambition and wished him well in his quest to lead Kwara State.

They noted that the funds had been released for the repair and replacement of the damaged transformer, with work expected to commence immediately to facilitate the restoration of electricity to the affected communities.

The visit was attended by the PDP deputy governorship candidate, Rev. C.O. Fawenu, alongside other party leaders and stakeholders.

Also speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, youth leaders from Isale-Koko and Ojagboro commended the PDP governorship candidate for responding promptly to the community’s plight.

They described his gesture as a demonstration of compassion and commitment to the welfare of the people.
