PWS Youth Council celebrates Wale Sulaiman, hails Global Icon of Medicine and Public Service

The PWS Youth Council Leadership has joined family, friends, associates, political stakeholders, members of the academic community and well-wishers across Nigeria and beyond to celebrate the birthday of renowned neurosurgeon, academic and political leader, Professor Wale Sulaiman, MD., PhD., FRCS(C), CON.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, PWS Youth Council Leadership, Hon. Lawal Oluwatosin Muhammed (LOM) at the weekend.

Professor Sulaiman is a world-renowned neurosurgeon and neuroscience expert, physician executive, healthcare policy specialist and academic who has made significant contributions to medicine, medical education and healthcare leadership.

He is also the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun (FUHSI), as well as a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a congratulatory message signed by its Publicity Secretary, Hon. Lawal Oluwatosin Muhammed (LOM), the PWS Youth Council described Professor Sulaiman as an exceptional Nigerian whose life and career exemplify professional excellence, intellectual leadership, institutional development and commitment to humanity.

The council said his journey in neurosurgery, neuroscience, healthcare management and medical education had demonstrated the impact that knowledge, discipline, vision and dedication could have when deployed in the service of humanity.

Beyond medicine and academia, the PWS Youth Council acknowledged Professor Sulaiman’s contributions to public affairs and political development, noting that his involvement in politics and public service reflects his belief that leadership should extend beyond personal accomplishments to improving society and enhancing the wellbeing of the people.

The council further described his experience as an APC chieftain and political leader as valuable to conversations around governance, leadership and development, stressing the importance of bringing professional competence and institutional experience into public service.

Particular recognition was given to Professor Sulaiman’s relationship with young people and his potential role in mentoring and inspiring the next generation of Nigerian leaders.

The council noted that, at a time when young Nigerians are seeking greater opportunities to participate in national development, experienced leaders have an important responsibility to provide guidance, mentorship and platforms for meaningful engagement.

It also commended his role as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of FUHSI, describing the position as an important responsibility in the development of strong academic and healthcare institutions.

According to the council, effective institution-building requires vision, accountability, strategic thinking and a sustained commitment to excellence, qualities it said were essential to advancing Nigeria’s human capital and competing in the global knowledge economy.

The PWS Youth Council therefore celebrated Professor Sulaiman not only for his individual achievements but also for the values his journey represents, including professional excellence, intellectual capacity, perseverance, institutional responsibility and service to humanity.

The council prayed for greater wisdom, sound health, renewed strength, peace of mind and abundant blessings for the celebrant as he begins another year of his life.

It further prayed that his leadership and experience would continue to inspire responsible participation in public affairs, encourage excellence among young Nigerians and contribute to the growth of institutions and communities.

The council expressed pride in associating with Professor Sulaiman on the occasion, wishing him many more years of good health, fulfilment, purposeful leadership and impactful service.
