Heart-wrenching scene at Kwara Court as Police present dismembered body of Hafsoh Lawal as evidence

At the resumed hearing yesterday, the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin was engulfed by overwhelming emotions as police witnesses presented human remains as evidence in the ongoing trial of AbdulRahman Bello, the alleged murderer of Hafsoh Lawal.

The atmosphere turned somber when Ibrahim Lawal, the father of the deceased, was asked to identify parts of his daughter’s hands, prompting him to weep uncontrollably.

All five suspects were present for the proceedings, with four of the sixteen witnesses testifying.

The heart-wrenching moments culminated in tears from many in the courtroom as the offensive odor from the human remains, contained in a plastic container, filled the air.

Justice Hannah Ajayi paused the proceedings to offer prayers for the grieving father, wishing him strength in his time of sorrow.

Bello, a cleric based in Ilorin, is accused of murdering Hafsoh Lawal in February 2025, allegedly dismembering her body for a money ritual.

During his testimony, Ibrahim Lawal recounted the tragic events leading to his daughter’s disappearance, detailing her last moments before she never returned home after attending a friend’s naming ceremony.

As law enforcement began the investigation, tracking Hafsoh’s call logs led to the arrest of AbdulRahman Bello, who allegedly confessed to the gruesome act, stating he had killed.
