Winner emerges as Kwara govt hosts Entrepreneurship expo to mark 2025 International Students’ Day

The Kwara State Government, through the Office of the Special Assistant on Students’ Affairs, Hon. Salami Wasiu Onidugbe, on Monday hosted an Entrepreneurship Expo in commemoration of the 2025 International Students’ Day.

Held at the Ilorin Innovative Hub, the event tagged “Entrepreneurship for Development: Igniting Students as Catalysts for Economic Prosperity”, brought together students, young innovators, policymakers and business experts to promote the culture of entrepreneurship among youths in the state.

The programme featured a keynote paper presentation by the CEO, Lahmad Concept, Alhaji Ahmad Lawal on the role of students in driving economic growth, as well as a competitive presentation of business proposals by already selected student entrepreneurs.

Gov AbdulRahman AbddulRazaq, represented at the event by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe said the initiative was part of the administration’s broader efforts to inspire innovation, reduce unemployment and position students as active contributors to Kwara’s economic transformation.

Also speaking, the Hon. Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu urged students to embrace opportunities that enhance their skills and strengthen their capacity for self-reliance.

SA Student Affairs, Hon. Wasiu Onidugbe emphasized the administration’s commitment to youth development, noting that empowering students with practical entrepreneurial skills is key to building a sustainable economy.

Zainab Omodolapo a 500 level University of Ilorin Student who emerged the winner of 2025 Entrepreneurship Expo, expressed delight for the feat and praised the state government for supporting young talents, promising to make effective use of the prize.
