The Nigerian Corrections Service (NCoS), Kwara State Command, on Tuesday decorated 391 newly promoted officers in what has been described as the largest promotion exercise in the history of the Command.
The decoration ceremony, held at the Command Headquarters in the Flower Garden Area of Ilorin, also featured the commissioning of the Command’s first-ever photo stand.

According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, CSC Philip Olumide Adegbulugbe, the promotion exercise followed approvals recently granted across both senior and junior cadres of the Service.

Those promoted include one Deputy Controller of Corrections, five Assistant Controllers, 14 Chief Superintendents, 25 Superintendents, 91 Deputy Superintendents, 74 Assistant Superintendents I, 54 Assistant Superintendents II, 13 Inspectors, 30 Chief Correctional Assistants, 44 Senior Correctional Assistants, and 40 Correctional Assistants I.

The ceremony was presided over by the Kwara State Controller of Corrections, Tolorunshagba Femi Emmanuel, and attracted representatives of sister security agencies, heads of government parastatals, officers-in-charge of custodial centres, retired officers, as well as family members of the newly promoted personnel.

In his address, Emmanuel congratulated the officers on their elevation and urged them to see the promotion as a call to higher responsibility. He charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through increased professionalism, discipline, dedication, and commitment to the core mandate of the Nigerian Corrections Service.

The Controller also expressed appreciation to the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, for their exemplary leadership and sustained commitment to staff welfare and institutional development within the Service.

He noted that the promotion exercise and the commissioning of new facilities reflect the ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the Nigerian Corrections Service and improving service delivery across the country.
