Good Friday: PWS calls for prayers for Nigeria’s unity, prosperity

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and governorship aspirant in Kwara State, Prof. Wale Sulaiman, has urged Christians to offer prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, and prosperity as they commemorate Good Friday.

In a statement marking the solemn occasion, Prof. Sulaiman joined Christians across the world and members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in reflecting on the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ.

He described Good Friday as a sacred period of fasting, reflection and sacrifice, noting that it symbolises the ultimate act of love and redemption for humanity.

According to him, the significance of the day should inspire Nigerians to embrace virtues such as love, righteousness, sacrifice and unity, which are essential for peaceful coexistence and national development.

Sulaiman emphasized that Nigeria’s strength lies in its unity despite its diverse cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.

He therefore called on Christians to use the occasion to seek divine intervention for the country, praying for lasting peace, wisdom for leaders, and improved wellbeing for citizens.

The APC chieftain also urged Nigerians of all faiths to promote tolerance, mutual respect, and harmony as the nation continues its pursuit of sustainable growth and cohesion.
