Kwara Youth Council backs PWS for APC governorship ticket ahead of 2027 Poll

The Kwara Youth Council has formally endorsed Prof. Wale Sulaiman for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing his track record of service, youth focused initiatives, and global professional exposure as key factors behind its decision.

In a detailed statement released by its leadership, the council described the current political moment in Kwara State as defining, emphasizing the need for leadership that transcends rhetoric and delivers measurable, people oriented impact.

According to the group, the state requires not just a political figurehead but a visionary leader capable of driving sustainable development, empowering young people and fostering inclusive growth.

The council noted that its endorsement of Prof. Sulaiman was anchored on “substance rather than sentiment,” pointing to his longstanding contributions to education, healthcare, and community development.

As a globally acclaimed neurosurgeon and philanthropist, Sulaiman was praised for initiating scholarship schemes, organizing free medical outreach programmes, and implementing interventions that have reportedly improved the lives of many underserved residents within and outside Kwara State.

These are not hypothetical promises often associated with political campaigns, the statement read. They are verifiable actions that reflect compassion, competence, and a deep commitment to societal advancement.

Highlighting the centrality of youth development to Kwara’s future, the council stressed that its support was also informed by Prof. Wale Sulaiman’s consistent investment in young people through mentorship, educational support, and empowerment initiatives.

The group argued that the strength and progress of any state are largely dependent on how well its youth population is equipped to contribute meaningfully to governance and economic growth.

The council further underscored the importance of Sulaiman’s international exposure, describing it as a strategic advantage that could enable him to integrate global best practices into local governance. It maintained that at a time when governance requires innovation, transparency, and inclusiveness, Kwara State stands to benefit from leadership that combines professional discipline with strong moral character.

While reiterating its commitment to the APC as the ruling party in the state, the youth body also called on party stakeholders, leaders, and delegates to ensure a transparent and merit driven process in selecting the party’s gubernatorial candidate. It urged decision-makers within the party to prioritize credibility, competence, and proven service over political considerations.

The decision before the APC is not merely political, it is generational, the statement added, noting that the choice of candidate would significantly shape the trajectory of Kwara State in the coming years.

The Kwara Youth Council expressed confidence that Prof. Wale Sulaiman’s emergence as the party’s flagbearer would signal the beginning of a new era marked by purposeful leadership, unity across political and social divides, and accelerated socio economic development.

The group also called on residents of the state, particularly young people, to actively support what it described as a vision rooted in integrity, capacity, and genuine service to the people.

With collective resolve and the right leadership, Kwara can achieve greater heights, the council concluded. This is a moment to choose a future defined by competence, accountability, and inclusive progress.
