NANS Award: PWS Youth Council hails Wale Sulaiman’s leadership, service

The PWS Youth Council Leadership has congratulated Prof. Wale Sulaiman, CON, following his recognition by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) with the Excellence in Leadership, National Service, and Community Impact Award.

In a statement by the Publicity Secretary of PWS Youth Council Leadership, Hon. Lawal Oluwatosin Muhammed (LOM), on Sunday, described the honour as a testament to Prof. Sulaiman’s consistent contributions to national development, youth empowerment and healthcare advancement.

The award was presented during the 45th anniversary celebration of NANS in Abuja, where several distinguished Nigerians were recognised for their impact across different sectors.

The group commended NANS for acknowledging Prof. Sulaiman’s achievements, noting that his work in medical innovation, both in Nigeria and across Africa, has significantly improved healthcare delivery and outcomes.

They also highlighted his sustained investment in youth development through mentorship, professional training and scholarship opportunities.

According to the council, Prof. Sulaiman’s interventions through the RNZ Foundation reflect a leadership style rooted in compassion and service, particularly in supporting vulnerable communities.

They further praised his contributions to the Kwara State health sector during his tenure as Special Adviser on Health Matters to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, citing his role in driving reforms and strengthening healthcare systems, including efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The statement also acknowledged his support for the growth of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, describing it as a critical step toward building capacity in medical education and research in Nigeria.

The PWS Youth Council said the award serves not only as recognition of past achievements but also as motivation for continued service and impact.

It added that Prof. Sulaiman’s journey remains a source of inspiration to young Nigerians, demonstrating that dedication, integrity and excellence can lead to meaningful change.

Reaffirming their support, the council expressed confidence in his vision for development and his commitment to advancing healthcare, education and youth-focused initiatives in Kwara State and beyond.
