As the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State prepares for its governorship primaries, a political advocacy group, Kwara APC Renewed Hope for Progress and Development, has called on party stakeholders to make a “conscience-driven decision” in selecting the party’s candidate.
In an open letter addressed to party leaders, influencers and key decision-makers and signed by its leader, Alhaji Abdulkarim Abdulsalam Oloyin, the group noted that the growing intensity of political activities requires careful reflection rather than heightened rhetoric.
It urged stakeholders to rely on proven credibility and track records in shaping the party’s future ahead of the 2027 elections.

The group expressed support for APC governorship aspirant, Prof. Wale Sulaiman, describing him as a candidate with a practical vision anchored on the Kwara Prosperity Agenda.
According to the statement, the agenda focuses on inclusive development, equal opportunities and a governance model where every citizen has a chance to succeed.
It highlighted key aspects of his proposed policies, including investment in medical tourism as a driver of economic growth capable of creating jobs, attracting investment, and retaining capital within the state.
The group also pointed to his emphasis on social welfare, particularly initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of retirees, as well as support for artisans and small-scale businesses.
On education, the statement noted his commitment to free and compulsory primary and secondary education, describing it as a transformative policy with the potential to break the cycle of poverty and expand opportunities for future generations.
Beyond policy, the group commended Prof. Sulaiman’s leadership style, which it said is rooted in unity and consensus-building.
It argued that his approach described as “consensus amplification” could help strengthen party cohesion, especially at a time when internal divisions often affect electoral outcomes.
The group stressed that the choice before party stakeholders goes beyond immediate political gains, urging them to prioritise unity, sustainability and the long-term success of the APC in Kwara State.
It concluded by reminding leaders that decisions made at this critical moment will shape the party’s future, calling on them to act in the collective interest of both the APC and the people of Kwara State.
