Moro Bridge: FG, Kwara divert traffic as emergency repairs begin on alternative route

By Ahmed Olayinka

Authorities have moved swiftly to manage traffic disruption following the collapse of the old Moro Bridge, as both the Federal Government and the Kwara State Government announced an immediate diversion along the affected route.

The bridge reportedly gave way overnight after a heavy-duty truck compromised its structure, triggering emergency response measures to avert a major traffic crisis on the busy corridor.

In response, engineers from the state Ministry of Works have been deployed to begin urgent palliative repairs on an alternative route to facilitate the smooth movement of vehicles.

Traffic officials have also been stationed in the area to coordinate with transport unions and guide commuters through the temporary diversion.

Motorists have been urged to exercise caution and adhere to traffic directives while navigating the new route.

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that work is ongoing on a new bridge located a short distance from the collapsed structure, with assurances from federal authorities that construction efforts remain on track.

The government appealed for public patience and cooperation, emphasizing that all necessary steps are being taken to restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible.
