A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Kwara State governorship aspirant, Professor Wale Sulaiman, has extended congratulations to Nigerian workers on the occasion of Workers’ Day, describing them as the driving force behind the nation’s economy.
In a statement marking the celebration, Prof Sulaiman praised the resilience, commitment and diligence of workers across both formal and informal sectors, noting that their contributions continue to sustain economic activities despite prevailing challenges.
He urged workers to prioritise continuous learning and skills development, especially in emerging fields such as innovation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, in order to remain relevant in a fast-changing global environment.

He emphasised the need for Nigerian professionals to align with global standards in competence, efficiency and productivity.
Prof Sulaiman also highlighted the strength of Nigeria’s human capital, pointing out that citizens have consistently demonstrated excellence both locally and internationally.
He, however, stressed the need for a collective commitment to tackling corruption, which he described as a major obstacle to national development.
The APC aspirant called on governments at all levels to implement policies that improve workers’ welfare, ensure fair compensation and create conducive working conditions, noting that a motivated workforce is critical to economic growth and social stability.
He further commended all categories of workers including civil servants, artisans, and skilled and semi-skilled professionals for their continued contributions to nation-building.
