Kwara 2027: Group says Wale Sulaiman stands out among Governorship aspirants

A political advocacy group has described APC governorship aspirant, Prof. Wale Sulaiman, as a standout figure in the race for the 2027 governorship election in Kwara State, citing his track record in youth empowerment, education support and community development.

In a statement titled “Governorship Candidates May Be Many, But Professor Wale Sulaiman Stands Apart,” the group said the renowned neurosurgeon and public health expert represents a model of leadership built on competence, consistency and people-centered service.

According to the statement, Prof. Sulaiman’s contributions over the years distinguish him from what it described as “seasonal politicians” who only emerge during election periods.

The group noted that his interventions in human capital development, youth mentorship and economic support initiatives reflect a deep understanding of the socio-economic realities facing the people of Kwara State.

It highlighted several areas where the aspirant has made impact, including support for students through payment of school fees, youth empowerment programmes, skills development initiatives and efforts aimed at creating employment opportunities for young people.

The statement added that Prof. Sulaiman’s style of engagement demonstrates a leadership approach rooted in accessibility, practical solutions and long-term development rather than political rhetoric.

It further argued that Kwara State requires leadership defined by credibility, competence and measurable impact, stressing that governance should go beyond campaign promises to sustained service delivery.

The group maintained that Prof. Sulaiman’s professional accomplishments, humanitarian interventions and governance vision position him as a strong contender capable of driving inclusive growth and institutional reforms in the state.

According to the statement, his emergence in the governorship race has continued to generate conversations around the need for accountable leadership and development-focused governance ahead of the 2027 elections.

The group concluded by urging stakeholders and residents of the state to support leaders with proven capacity and commitment to sustainable development, noting that Kwara deserves leadership that prioritises the welfare and advancement of the people beyond political slogans.
