…seeks bench warrant against culprits

The Kwara State branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has dragged two officers of the Nigerian Security Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Ajayi Williams Gbolahan and Busari Babatunde to court for allegedly assaulting their member, one Aladodo Abdullateef Nurudeen.

According to the Direct Complainant signed by the secretary of the Bar, Barrister Dauda Jimoh, the NSCDC officers allegedly beat up Barrister Aladodo while waiting for his client at the Force office in Ilorin.
Despite introducing himself as legal practitioners, the defendants reportedly dragged Aladodo into a room where he was severely and physically brutalized, the Direct Complaint revealed.
“On 10th April, 2026, our member visited the NSCDC office in llorin in his professional capacity to attend to a client. While standing under a tree near his vehicle, the Defendants, Officers of the NSCDC, confronted and physically assaulted him, despite our member identifying himself as a legal practitioner.
The Defendants, along with other officers, dragged our member into a room where he was further brutallized and seriously assaulted.

The Defendants actions were unprovoked and constituted a blatant abuse of power. Our member sustained injuries and suffered humiliation as a result of the Defendants, the Direct Complaint read”.
The prosecution, Professor D A Ariyo Osu who was represented by Barrister J.S Muhammed at the last hearing, informed the court that the Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC has continued to disobey the court substituting order directing him to produce the alleged offenders.
He however applied for a warrant of arrest against both officers and a summons for the Commandant to show why he should not be committed for contempt.
Counsel representing the NSCDC, M.M. Kolo, Esq. apologized for the commandant non appearance, adding that the 1st defendant, Ajayi Williams Gbolahan, who could be officially identified had absconded after the force began disciplinary proceedings on him, while the 2nd defendant, Busari Babatunde could not be officially identified.
The Court precised over by Chief Magistrate Chief Magistrate Adebayo Maryam Qudus Dupe granted the prosecution’s applications while the matter was adjourned to next week Wednesday, 2026.
