The Kwara State Police Command has announced extensive security arrangements and the deployment of personnel across the state ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, THE PRIME NEWS reports.
The command said the move is aimed at ensuring the safety of residents and preventing security breaches before, during and after the festive period.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police extended Eid greetings to Muslim faithful in Kwara State and beyond as they mark the 1447 AH Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
“As Muslim faithful observe this significant religious festival marked by sacrifice, obedience and devotion, the Command urges residents to celebrate peacefully, responsibly and in accordance with the law,” the statement read.
The police command disclosed that strategic deployments had been ordered across Eid prayer grounds, highways, recreational centres, motor parks, critical national assets and other vulnerable locations across the state.
“In line with the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, the Commissioner of Police has ordered a robust and strategic deployment of personnel and operational assets across the state to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Eid celebration,” the statement added.
THE PRIME NEWS gathered that the command further stated that Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders and other operational units had been directed to intensify security presence through coordinated operations before, during and after the festivities.
It explained that personnel from tactical and conventional units would carry out visibility policing, intelligence-driven surveillance, vehicular patrols, stop-and-search duties, crowd control and other proactive crime prevention operations across the state.
The police also warned residents against erecting tents, canopies, or any form of obstruction on roads and highways, noting that such actions constitute traffic and security hazards.
“The Command further warns against the erection of tents, canopies, or any form of obstruction on public roads and highways, as such acts constitute security and traffic hazards,” the statement noted.
Residents were advised to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, obey traffic regulations and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
The command appreciated residents for their continued support and cooperation while reaffirming its commitment to maintaining security across the state throughout the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations and beyond.
