The Director of Force Medical Services, AIG Nkechi Ifeoma Eze, has launched the “Know Your Number” Campaign in the Kwara State Police Command as part of efforts to improve the health, welfare and operational efficiency of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, THE PRIME NEWS reports.

The initiative, which seeks to address preventable health conditions responsible for cases of sudden collapse and death among police personnel, is in line with the welfare-driven vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at building a healthier and more resilient workforce.

Speaking during a series of health sensitization lectures held for officers and men of the Command, AIG Eze highlighted the dangers associated with undetected medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, prostate cancer and other silent ailments that often go unnoticed until complications arise.

She stressed the importance of regular medical check-ups and early detection, noting that preventive healthcare remains one of the most effective ways to reduce avoidable health complications and save lives.

According to her, the “Know Your Number” Campaign is designed to encourage police personnel to routinely monitor vital health indicators, adopt healthy lifestyles and seek prompt medical attention whenever necessary.

The AIG emphasized that maintaining good health is not only crucial for personal wellbeing but also essential for effective policing and quality service delivery to the public.

As part of the programme, medical teams carried out free health screenings for officers and men of the Command. The exercise included blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests and other basic medical examinations aimed at helping personnel understand their health status.

The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Ojo Adekimi, commended the Inspector-General of Police and the Director of Force Medical Services for bringing the initiative to Kwara State.

He described the campaign as a timely intervention that would contribute significantly to the wellbeing and productivity of officers, while reaffirming the Command’s commitment to supporting programmes that enhance the welfare, health and professional efficiency of police personnel.

The “Know Your Number” Campaign is expected to promote greater health awareness among police officers and encourage a culture of preventive healthcare within the Force.
