The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday formally presented the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination form to its governorship candidate, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The presentation, conducted by the Kwara APC Chairman, Sunday Fagbemi, at the party’s state secretariat in Ilorin, officially confirmed Danladi-Salihu as the party’s standard-bearer for the forthcoming election.

The event attracted party leaders, executives, stakeholders and supporters, who reaffirmed their commitment to the party’s unity and preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking after receiving the nomination form, Danladi-Salihu expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC National Working Committee, the leader of the party in Kwara State and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, state party executives, ward leaders and other stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him.

“I thank Mr President, our national leadership, our leader in Kwara State, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, our party executives, ward leaders and every stakeholder for the confidence reposed in me,” he said.

The governorship candidate, who also serves as Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, commended fellow aspirants who participated in the party’s governorship primary, describing the exercise as a democratic process in which a winner naturally emerged.

He stressed that the APC remained one united family and pledged to work with all party members to strengthen cohesion ahead of the governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly elections.

“By the grace of God, the APC is one family. We will remain united and emerge even stronger. Reconciliation is ongoing, and it is our responsibility to carry everyone along as we prepare for the governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly elections,” he added.

Danladi-Salihu assured party members and the people of Kwara State that he would justify the confidence reposed in him if elected governor, while praying for divine guidance throughout the electoral process.

Earlier, the state APC chairman, Sunday Fagbemi, appealed to party members to exercise restraint in their use of social media, warning against comments capable of undermining the party’s ongoing reconciliation efforts.

According to him, members should avoid actions that could create fresh divisions within the party and instead remain focused on promoting unity and securing victory in the 2027 elections.

“The reconciliation process is already underway. I appeal to all members to avoid actions capable of creating further divisions within our party. Let us remain disciplined, united and focused on securing victory in the forthcoming elections,” Fagbemi said.

The presentation of the INEC nomination form marks another milestone in the Kwara APC’s preparations for the 2027 governorship election as the party continues efforts to consolidate internal unity and mobilise support across the state.
