Kwara CP orders full investigation into brutal murder of farmer in Isin

By Ahmed Olayinka

The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Ojo Adekimi, has ordered a comprehensive and discreet investigation into the gruesome murder of a farmer, Mr. Azeez Garba, whose lifeless body was discovered on his farmland along the Owa-Onire axis, the boundary between Isanlu-Isin and Owu-Isin in Isin Local Government Area of the state, THE PRIME NEWS reports.

The directive followed the discovery of the deceased’s body bearing deep machete wounds, in what the police described as a cruel and senseless killing.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Commissioner of Police strongly condemned the incident and directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to deploy all available investigative and intelligence resources to identify, track and arrest those behind the murder.

According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that Garba had left home for his farm in the morning but failed to return, prompting his family members and local vigilantes to organise a search.

His motorcycle was later found parked at the farm, while his lifeless body was discovered a short distance away with multiple deep machete cuts, suggesting he was brutally attacked and killed.

The police said no arrest had been made as of the time of issuing the statement but assured the bereaved family, residents of Isin Local Government Area and the general public that every available lead was being actively pursued.

“The Commissioner of Police has directed investigators to leave no stone unturned in unraveling the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident and ensuring that everyone connected to this heinous crime is identified and brought to justice,” the statement said.

CP Adekimi reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Kwara State, stressing that the police would not relent until the perpetrators of the crime are apprehended and prosecuted.
