Oniganmo urges parents to keep close watch on children, seeks more devt for Ganmo

As school children/students/wards commence long vacation this month, the Oniganmo of Ganmo, Alhaji Oba Kamaldeen Jimoh Akanbi has admonished parents/guardians/caregivers to be very watchful of their children/wards.

His words, “Let us watch over these children during this long vacation as a matter of importance.

Their whereabouts should be known to us always, more so the need to know those they keep company with this is also imperative.

They must be engaged productively and supervised properly. They must have a specific time to be at home in the evening, they must not be allowed to keep late nights”, the monarch advised.

The traditional ruler also pleaded with his people to avoid throwing dirts into the drainage as the rains are here, “dirts will block our drainage(s) this could result to more damages of properties and breakdown of vehicles”, he stated.

He advised his people to keep dustbin for their dirts and empty it into Government dustbin at all times.

The Royal Father thanked Executive Chairman, Ifelodun Local Government, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf for his activities in Ganmo town and urged him to do more for the local vigilantees that are working voluntarily to keep the town safe.

“Our Local Government Chairman is very hardworking and on ground always, I urged him to consider our youths that are keeping the safety of Ganmo & environs for monthly stipend to encourage them accordingly”.

Oba Kamaldeen appreciated Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq for embracing a rural/urban development programme that Ganmo Community has benefitted immensely, however, he will appeal to Kwara State Government to fix culverts on the main road with road signs, “this will make the road more safe during market days/Fridays/to commuters that ply the road daily” he added.

“As Ganmo town continue to expand geometrically the Government should consider grading and re-grading of rural feeder roads to enhance movement of farm produce to the town and to enable farm workers to get to their farmlands easily, as this will enhance food security in our society, Oniganmo concluded.
