Troops of Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD have neutralised four suspected kidnappers and rescued an abducted victim during a successful ambush operation in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The operation, which was carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, was conducted by troops of Sector 1 stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Kaiama, following credible intelligence on the movement of suspected kidnappers in the area.

According to security reports, the troops laid an ambush at a strategic crossing point along the riverine axis of Jonloji Village, where the suspected criminals were expected to pass.
THE PRIME NEWS reports that the suspects reportedly ran into the ambush and engaged the troops in a gun duel. During the exchange of fire, four suspected kidnappers were killed.
The operation also led to the rescue of one kidnapped victim who was being held by the gang. The victim was subsequently evacuated to the General Hospital in Kaiama for medical attention.
Security operatives recovered a pump-action shotgun, four motorcycles and the sum of N64,000 believed to belong to the criminal group.
The operation is part of the ongoing Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD, a coordinated security effort aimed at combating kidnapping and other criminal activities across Kwara State and adjoining areas.
Security sources said troops have continued to sustain offensive operations against criminal elements in a bid to strengthen security, safeguard communities and protect lives and property throughout the region.
