The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 31-year-old suspected armed robber and recovered a tricycle allegedly stolen at gunpoint in Ilorin, Kwara State, following an intelligence-led operation, THE PRIME NEWS reports.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ayanlade Olayinka, operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit acted on credible intelligence by launching a targeted stop-and-search operation at the Irepo area of Oyo State.

During the operation, officers intercepted the stolen tricycle, bearing registration number Lagos EPE 236 QR, and arrested its rider, identified as Akindele Seun, aged 31.
Police said the suspect confessed during interrogation that he had robbed the tricycle owner at gunpoint in Ilorin before fleeing with the vehicle into Oyo State.
The recovered tricycle has been taken into police custody, while efforts are ongoing to trace its rightful owner and ensure its return. Investigations are also continuing to identify and arrest other suspects who may have been involved in the robbery.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to preventing Oyo State from becoming a haven for criminal activities.
He stressed that individuals who commit crimes within or outside the state and attempt to transport stolen property or other proceeds of crime into Oyo State will be tracked, arrested, investigated, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The police commissioner also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that would aid efforts to combat crime and protect lives and property.
