The Kwara State Police Command has rescued a 26-year-old kidnap victim, Miss Shekinat Mukaila, and arrested a suspected collaborator linked to the gang responsible for her abduction in Wande Community, Ora Kingdom, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state, THE PRIME NEWS reports.
The rescue operation was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, during a briefing on the Command’s recent intelligence-led operations in Ilorin.

According to the police commissioner, the victim was abducted on July 15, 2026, when armed kidnappers stormed Wande Community. During the attack, her father, the Baale of Wande Community, sustained gunshot injuries while attempting to prevent the assailants from taking his daughter away.
CP Adekimi explained that upon receiving the distress report, the Command immediately activated its tactical and intelligence units, deploying operatives to the scene to secure the area, recover vital evidence, and launch a comprehensive investigation.
He noted that the injured traditional ruler was promptly evacuated to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) for medical treatment and has since been discharged.
THE PRIME NEWS reports that Police boss revealed that the investigation recorded a major breakthrough with the arrest of one Aliyu Mohammed, who is alleged to have aided the activities of the kidnappers.
He added that investigators were also able to identify and analyse communication channels used by the criminal syndicate during ransom negotiations, providing valuable intelligence that guided subsequent operations.
According to him, intelligence gathered from the investigation enabled security operatives to intensify targeted operations, which eventually led to the successful rescue of the victim without any harm.
CP Adekimi stated that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other members of the kidnapping syndicate who are still on the run.
He described the operation as another testament to the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and proactive crime-fighting strategies.
The Commissioner of Police further urged residents of the state to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information, stressing that public cooperation remains essential in the fight against kidnapping and other criminal activities across Kwara State.
