176 victims abducted in Kwara regain freedom

The Kwara State Government has announced the release of victims abducted during the February 3, 2026 terrorist attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.

The announcement was made on Wednesday through the official Facebook page of the Kwara State Government, confirming that the abducted victims had regained their freedom after several months in captivity.

In the statement, the government expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, security agencies, and all those who contributed to the successful rescue of the victims.

“Alhamdulillaah and kudos to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, security forces, and everyone who played a role in this huge feat. We are grateful!” the statement read.

The victims were abducted on February 3, 2026, when heavily armed terrorists, believed to be linked to Boko Haram, stormed the rural communities of Woro and Nuku on motorcycles in a coordinated attack that lasted several hours.

The invasion, regarded as one of the deadliest attacks recorded in Kwara State, reportedly claimed hundreds of lives, left many others injured, destroyed homes and businesses, and displaced numerous residents.

Local vigilantes who attempted to resist the attackers were reportedly overpowered during the assault, with some said to have been trapped and burnt inside their operational office.

Although the state government confirmed that the victims had regained their freedom, it did not disclose the exact number of those released or provide details of the operation that led to their rescue.
