Erling Haaland has expressed his delight over scoring brace as Manchester city defeated Burnley 3-0 in their league opener on Friday night.
Haaland scored two goals in the first half before Rodrigo netted the third goal to seal up the victory for the citizens.
Norwegian striker noted that it was important for the team to start on a good note as they eye title defence.
It was important to start like this,” he said.
“A tricky fixture, away, against a newly promoted team and everything, so it was fantastic to start with three points.
“I don’t think too much about this [early goals]. The main thing is to play good as a team and to get the three points.
That’s exactly what we did throughout the whole game. It was a good start.
“We have to try to still play the football we did last year. And to keep on building what we did last year because it was something truly special what we achieved.
“We are Treble winners so people want to beat us even more. We are used to it and we will do our best to defend everything we can”.
The victory was like a baptism of fire for Burnely Manager and City Legend Vincent Kompany who in his debut as a Coach in the Premier league failed to secure a win
