NANS honours Sulaiman, Dangote, Barau at 45th Anniversary Awards Ceremony, PWS takes centre stage

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has honoured prominent figures including Prof. Wale Sulaiman; industrialist Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Deputy Senate Leader Senator Barau Jibrin with its Excellence in Leadership, National Service and Community Impact Award.

The recognition came during the 45th anniversary celebration of the student body held in Abuja, where a total of 45 distinguished Nigerians were celebrated for their contributions to national development and youth empowerment.

The event, which took place at the NICON Luxury Hotel, drew an array of dignitaries, including government officials, industry leaders, youth advocates, and student representatives from across the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, NANS President, Comrade Oladoja, praised Prof. Sulaiman for his impact in the healthcare sector, particularly his contributions to medical innovation, youth empowerment through scholarships and professional training and community development initiatives under the RNZ Foundation.

He also highlighted Prof. Sulaiman’s role in strengthening healthcare delivery in Kwara State during his tenure as Special Adviser on Health Matters, as well as his involvement in COVID-19 response efforts.

His leadership at the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, was further commended as instrumental in advancing medical education and research.

Alhaji Dangote was recognised for his significant role in driving industrial growth, job creation and economic development across Nigeria and Africa, alongside his philanthropic efforts in health, education and poverty reduction through the Dangote Foundation.

Similarly, Senator Barau Jibrin received accolades for his legislative contributions, particularly his advocacy for youth development, education and inclusive economic policies.

In his response, Prof. Sulaiman expressed appreciation to NANS for the honour and commended the association for its longstanding role in championing student interests and national development.

He reiterated his commitment to supporting young Nigerians through mentorship, educational advancement and improved access to healthcare.
