By Ahmed Olayinka

The Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, has announced his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency.

Ajakaye made his declaration on Monday through a short video message shared on his social media platforms, where he sought the support of leaders, members, and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party primaries.

His entry into the race comes amid heightened political activities in Kwara State as aspirants begin consultations and grassroots mobilisation in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

Having served as spokesperson to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq since 2019, Ajakaye is widely regarded as a key voice within the administration, with strong involvement in policy communication and governance.

In his message, he said his decision to contest followed extensive consultations with political leaders and stakeholders across the constituency.

He emphasised the importance of effective representation at the National Assembly, noting that collaboration between lawmakers and the executive arm of government is essential for delivering meaningful development to the people.

Ajakaye pledged to provide responsible, transparent, and people-oriented representation if elected, adding that he would work closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure that resources are aligned with the needs of the constituency.

He also called on APC members and leaders within Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency to support his aspiration in the interest of sustainable growth and development.
